New boys score but Magpies draw

Summer signings Emmanuel Riviere and Remy Cabella both got on the scoresheet for Newcastle as the Magpies drew 2-2 with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium.

Riviere netted his third goal of the pre-season campaign in the 16th minute but Radoslaw Majewski and Jon Stead had the home side in front before Cabella grabbed an equaliser.

Leonardo Ulloa opened his account for Leicester in a 3-1 win over Rotherham.

The acquisition from Brighton netted a first-half brace and, although Keiran Agard reduced the deficit, Danny Drinkwater sealed the win.

A Craig Dawson own goal saw West Brom go down to a 3-2 defeat at Port Vale.

Kemar Roofe opened the scoring for the Baggies but Ben Williamson and Tom Pope turned the game on its head before Bradley Garmston made it 2-2.

The drama was not over, though, as Dawson's miscued header five minutes from time fooled Boaz Myhill and handed Vale victory.

Summer signing Lukas Jutkiewicz scored his fourth and fifth pre-season goals for Burnley but he could not hand the Clarets a win as goals from Alex Lopez and Nolito secured a 2-2 draw for Primera Division side Celta Vigo at Turf Moor.

In the day's other friendlies, goals from Bobby Zamora and Charlie Austin handed QPR a 2-0 win over Athlone Town, while Alan Hutton scored the only goal as Aston Villa beat Walsall 1-0.
