More Than Two Years, 400 Corners, And Guess What?

Oct 1st 2011 Demba Ba scored from a corner against Wolves, and until yesterday ...

... United had taken more than 400 corners (in competitive fixtures) and failed to reproduce the moment.

But two minutes into the game with Norwich, and some rather ridiculous defending (it has to be said), Newcastle got it right!

It helped produce a scruffy win against a ramshackle Norwich outfit, but that won't distract Alan Pardew one bit!

The Newcastle manager says he will not allow his players to be carried away after seeing them secure a third successive Barclays Premier League victory.

The Magpies climbed to within a single point of the Champions League places on Saturday evening courtesy of a 2-1 win over Norwich at St James' Park.

Pardew's men held out to claim the points despite the midweek World Cup exploits of the likes of Cabaye, Remy and Cheick Tiote taking their toll.

Alan Pardew: "We talked about that after and said we looked a little bit tired in the second half. Some of our players have travelled around.

"When you are 2-0 up at half-time, you kind of start leaning on that a little bit as well.

"But Norwich did well in the second half. I don't want to take anything away from Norwich. I thought they applied themselves well."
