More Misery For Ashley!

Oh dear ... poor Mike Ashley wants to see a pay-back on the £10m he spent on ...

... the Academy in recent years, but if Newcastle United’s Under-21 defeat to Lee Clark's Brum is anything to go by - it ain't gonna happen soon!

Yesterday the kids suffered a hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City in the League Cup.

A strong team full of players with first-team experience were knocked out of the inaugural tournament due to a last-minute winner for the Blues.

James Tavernier, Massadio Haidara, Gael Bigirimana, Adam Campbell, Haris Vuckic and Sammy Ameobi all started at St Andrew’s.

Birmingham, coached by ex-Newcastle player Steve Watson, opened the scoring through Aaron McLean with only 12 minutes remaining.

Newcastle equalised through Jamaican-born winger Rolando Aarons with only minutes to go, only for McLean, on loan from Hull and playing as an overage player, to score with seconds to go before the tie would have gone into extra-time

Newcastle coaches Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley’s have won only two of their 10 games this season.
