Moncur Has His Own Theory On Failed Transfers

Former Toon skipper Bob Moncur says he has sympathy for Alan Pardew, because the players the Newcastle boss was after were "overpriced".   Andy Carroll - Newcastle finding him tough to replace Bob Moncur: "I have to say that I was as disappointed as anybody when the clock struck 11pm and Newcastle United had not signed a new striker. "Everybody wanted to see a proven Premier League striker – and I was no different. "My theory is that there were a lot of players out there on transfer deadline day that were overpriced. "Newcastle will now have to look to Demba Ba, Leon Best, Shola Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands to find some goals. "The facts are that Newcastle didn’t get the striker they needed and now goals must be found from within, from whoever that may be. "Sadly, there’s not much Newcastle can do about it now, and the aim has to be to build on this great start to the season on the field."
