Mick Quinn - Cabaye And Coloccini Sho Disrespect To Club

28 November 2013 00:59
Former Toon striker Mick Quinn has hit out at Yohan Cabaye and Fabricio Coloccini.

Mick Quinn: "Something happens to foreign players the moment they walk through passport control at an English airport on their way out of the country.

"They feel the need, and it’s an urge they simply can’t fight, to talk to the first friendly journalist they see.

"And they just have to tell them all about why they want away from their current club and where they want to go.

"Nowadays you have to wait a whole two seconds before an interview in Argentina or France makes its way back to, say, Newcastle.

"Which brings me to Yohan Cabaye and Fabricio Coloccini.

"Over the past five days, both have given interviews to journalists in their own land about why and when they want to leave the club.

"Cabaye at the end of the season and Coloccini in January, if possible.

"This is utterly disrespectful.

"To me, they are basically saying that Newcastle United is a stepping stone, nothing more, and they can’t wait to move on to bigger and better things.

"It’s not what I or any other fan wants to hear. It’s not what any player should be saying in public.

"I hate when players use a third party to drop not so subtle hints that they want a transfer.

"Nobody expects a player to stay with the same club for 10 years, especially if they are a foreign lad.

"But there is a way to go about it.

"I was really disappointed in Cabaye and Coloccini, both of whom have tried to engineer moves this year and failed.

"Don’t they owe Newcastle United loyalty, or at least to pay them the respect of not mouthing off to a journalist?"
