Newcastle United are the most northern club; and there are SEVEN London clubs in the Premiership (eight if you include Man Utd) ... so ...

... does it take a Mastermind winner to tell us that "Newcastle United fans have travelled the most distance over the course of the season as opposed to their Premier League counterparts"?

FFS!

"A study by AA Route Planner has indicated that the Magpies' followers have clocked up over 4,300 miles for league games, while their North-East rivals Sunderland are in second place."

AA Route Planner's Nigel Phillips said: "The dedication of football fans has never been in any doubt but by conducting this study we discovered that there is a difference of over 2,000 miles between the teams who travel the highest and lowest miles."

In contrast, fans supporting Midlands club Aston Villa have travelled just 2,209 miles over the league campaign.

Also ... a survey by Campaign for Better Transport which looked at how easy it was for fans to get to grounds without a car saw the Magpies come out on top

A report said: “Newcastle are worthy transport champions with initiatives including season-long matchday public transport for just £10.

“Gunners’ fans make full use of good public transport links, and travel planning since the move to the Emirates has reduced the percentage of fans arriving by car from 30 per cent to 10 per cent.

“In the relegation zone were Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers, with Reading coming bottom of the table.”
