Martins set for comeback
Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins could return to action at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international has missed the opening pre-season friendlies at Shamrock Rovers, Darlington and Huddersfield as he continues his recovery from summer groin surgery.
However, he and midfielder Geremi, who was given an extended break after playing for Cameroon at the end of the last campaign, could figure at Brisbane Road as caretaker boss Chris Hughton continues preparations for the Championship kick-off with no signs of a permanent manager being appointed.
Defender Sebastien Bassong, who continues to attract attention from potential buyers, will be assessed before the game following his own late return to training after international commitments.
