Martins hopes to save Magpies

Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins has vowed to fire the Magpies to safety. The Tyneside club face a daunting task when they host Manchester United on Wednesday night, with their opponents in outstanding form. Newcastle, meanwhile, are just two points above the relegation places, and have won just one of their previous nine Premier League matches. Martins is desperate to see the Magpies avoid the drop, and has rallied his team-mates ahead of the clash against the champions. He told the Chronicle: "I scored against them this season. I'm not the only one who's going to play but it would be great to do it again. "I want to score the goals that will help Newcastle get out of this. "It's going to be difficult now because we lost at Bolton, and we have Man United in the next game. "We'll see what's going to happen. It will be tough but we have to stay together."
