Magpies will regroup - Williamson
Defender Mike Williamson has warned Aston Villa that Newcastle's spirit will not be broken by their comprehensive defeat at Manchester United.
The Magpies lost 3-0 at Old Trafford on Monday evening as their return to the Barclays Premier League, perhaps predictably, ended in disappointment.
However, having dragged themselves out of the Championship at the first attempt, Williamson and his team-mates are not about to lose perspective ahead of Sunday's home clash with Villa after falling to one of the main title contenders.
He said: "We will recover, regroup and go again. That's what the boys are about, that's what the team spirit is there for.
"We know we are going to drop points, but it's about regrouping and going again. It's going to be a very tough season, but Man United aren't going to knock our confidence."
