Magpies planning loan signings

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Newcastle United caretaker boss Chris Hughton is planning to bring in players on loan next week, with Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood among his targets.[LNB] Skysports.com revealed on transfer deadline day that Newcastle were fighting it out with Hull City to bring in Harewood on loan.[LNB]The forward's agent claimed a deal to join Hull had been agreed, only to then collapse, and Harewood could now move to St James' Park.[LNB]Hughton has confirmed he has shown an interest in the former Nottingham Forest man and aims to improve his squad when the loan window reopens next week.[LNB]Big decisions"Marlon was one of the numerous names we looked at," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle. "We were unable to do business.[LNB]"We know where we are when it comes to the areas we are short of.[LNB]"There isn't anybody we can rule in at this stage, but certainly we have some big decisions to make.[LNB]"In five days' time we hope to bring in loan signings. These will be initial one-month loan deals that could be extended to three months."[LNB]Hughton has also revealed that the Championship leaders had tried to fix up a deal for Manchester United defender Craig Cathcart before the window closed.[LNB]He added: "He was a player that was on our minds.[LNB]"Unfortunately we were unable to do business. And no agreement has been made."[LNB]
