Magpies appoint Shearer

Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Alan Shearer as their manager for the final eight games of the season.[LNB] Sky Sports News revealed on Tuesday night that Shearer was poised to be named the Magpies' new manager and the club have now finally confirmed the news.[LNB]Newcastle have moved for former England captain Shearer to guide the club for the last weeks of the season with Joe Kinnear currently recovering from heart surgery.[LNB]Magpies legend Shearer has been continually linked with a return to St James' Park as manager and now he has taken up the task of keeping the club in the Premier League.[LNB]Executive director Dennis Wise left the club earlier on Wednesday clearing the way for Shearer to finalise his return to the North East.[LNB]Shearer's former Southampton team-mate Iain Dowie will act as his No.2 with Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood keeping their roles in the coaching team.[LNB]Newcastle's managing director Derek Llambias was delighted to announce the appointment of Shearer and believes his arrival will give the whole club a massive boost as they look to avoid relegation.
