Mackems Switch - Toon Cup Date Will Stay

The Mackems have confirmed their forthcoming FA Cup Third Round clash against Carlisle United next month will move to the Sunday.

Northumbria Police voiced concerns that prospect of both Sunderland and Newcastle hosting home games on the same day would cause security problems.

Newcastle will play Cardiff City on the Saturday with a 3pm kick-off, unless the match is picked for TV - which seems unlikely now.

Sunderland's game will take place at the Stadium of Shite on Sunday 5 January, 2014, with a 2pm kick off.
