Ameobi is Newcastle United’s second-highest goalscorer in Europe with 12 strikes, with only Alan Shearer (30 goals) ahead of him against European opposition.
United will play Greek side Atromitos FC in the competition’s final qualifying round.
Shola Ameobi: “What we did last season was fantastic.
“Personally, I wanted to see the club back in Europe having tasted it in the early 2000s.
"Hopefully, I can add a few more goals to my tally.
“I certainly believe that the European-style of football suits my game. You get a little bit more time on the ball.
“You get more time to get the ball down, and that’s how I want to play.”
