Lovenkrands The New Carroll? It Would Be Nice, But ...

Peter Lovenkrands claims he can be "The New Andy Carroll". But perhaps someone should remind him he is about 5ft shorter and 8st lighter. Can he fill the void left by Andy Carroll?  I'm sure we'd all like to think so, but when Rangers knocked back the chance to take him (when he spent the pre-season of 2010 training with them at Ibrox) I think Chris Hughton took a big chance on him. If he was not regarded as being good enough for the "Two Team Micky Mouse Chilly Jocko League", we have to wonder if he has the quality to make it in the Premiership - which is three levels up from the Scottish Premier. He did a marvelous job in the Championship, and was a major part of the team that gained promotion, and with Judas now at Anfield and Shola getting his face rebuilt ... the opportunity is knocking. Peter Lovenkrands: “I got the lob over Paul Robinson and caught him in no-man’s land, he was just standing there. “I thought it was in but it dropped on the bar. I couldn’t believe it but sometimes it just doesn’t go for you. “But we’ve got players who can come in and score for us. I got 16 goals last year, that’s only three less than Andy, and I played less games than him. “Yes, he’s a big miss, of course. He’s a great player and good luck to him. “But we have players here that go and fill his boots. We just need that bit of luck to set us off and I’m sure we’ll be fine. “Both me and Leon Best have been waiting on our chance. There’s been a lot of times when we’ve felt we should have been playing. “But now we’ve got a chance, we need to go and prove it.”
