Yohan Cabaye will miss his first Barclays Premier League game of the season when Newcastle entertain West Brom on Wednesday night.
The influential Frenchman is suspended after reaching five bookings for the campaign and will join fellow midfielder Dan Gosling on the banned list.
Full-back Ryan Taylor (ankle) and midfielder Danny Guthrie (groin) remain doubts, while and Steven Taylor (Achilles) is expected to sit out the rest of the season.
