Lovenkrands: 'Forget The Money'

Former Toon winger Peter Lovenkrands can never be accused of putting finances ahead of football.

He is a key part of Lee Clark's Birmingham City promotion push.

Peter Lovenkrands: “A club in trouble? No, not at all.

“Birmingham’s a great big club, a fantastic club. I don’t see why we can be in trouble in any way.

“I don’t really know too much of what’s happening outside of the football. But that’s not what I am here for. I am here to play football and do the business.

“I can’t see why we shouldn’t be able to push for it. We did last year. We are going to be able to try and do that again. We’ve got a lot of the players from last year, we have brought in some new ones, and hopefully it all comes together.

“The club are rebuilding and I’m here to help us get back where we should be - in the Premier League.

“I’m here to help shoot us back up - everybody wants to get back up. Everybody is disappointed we never made it last year.

"We have a good mixture of everything, a good backroom staff as well.

“Of course it’s unfortunate we don’t have European football because it’s a great competition to be part of. I’ve been there myself.

“But that’s definitely going to help with the off-loading of games and travelling and things, for the players. Hopefully it will give us that little bit more.”
