Liedson set for Sporting stay

Liedson has admitted his future is in the hands of Sporting Lisbon as Newcastle, Portsmouth and Celtic all chase the striker's signature. The 31-year-old has established himself as one of the most lethal forwards in Portuguese football since his arrival from Brazil in 2003. His performances have not gone unnoticed and the trio of British clubs have all been linked with him in recent months. Liedson is aware of the interest and his desire to secure Portuguese citizenship could increase the possibility of an exit from Sporting. However Liedson, who has previously expressed his wish to play international football for Portugal, is also keen to stay in Lisbon with Sporting. He would like to remain with the club for many years but is happy for Sporting bosses to make the final decision."Really I have a Portuguese heart although I still do not have the document," he told Radio Renaiscenca. "My intention is to stay at Sporting but now this depends on the president."It is certain that some clubs are interested in me but I am very happy here and my desire is to stay for more years."
