Speculation can get the better of newspaper reporters in their quest to find a storry ... and the guy who linked Nile Ranger with a move to Elland Road has seen the shit hit the fan. Leeds have denied they tried to sign the Newcastle striker on loan before the summer transfer window closed ... and they want the world to know it. It was suggested Leeds missed out on landing the 20-year-old last Wednesday. However, manager Simon Grayson says the youngster was never a target after they brought Wolves' Andy Keogh back to Elland Road on loan. Simon Grayson: "It's simply not true. "Nile was one of a number of players who we were aware of his availability during the transfer window, but we brought in Andy Keogh a few weeks before so we were not looking at other strikers. "We certainly didn't speak with Newcastle about his availability, and it's well known that we were looking in other areas."
