Kinnear Vows To Have An 'Input'

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has indicated he would be prepared to accept a role away from the touchline at St James' Park. The Magpies boss is recovering from heart surgery and is due to meet doctors in the second week of April to determine whether he is fit to return. Kinnear has pencilled in the crunch trip to Premier League relegation rivals Stoke on April 11 as a date for his comeback, but managing director Derek Llambias recently announced that no risks would be taken. And Kinnear has now hinted that, with assistant Chris Hughton in caretaker charge, he would be prepared to accept a move 'upstairs' in order to ensure his input into the Magpies' battle against the drop. He told the Newcastle Chronicle: "I'm just desperate to be back and do what I can for Newcastle. "I still think we have enough quality players to see us through this. "Obviously I look forward to next season, and I want to say that what's happening now will never happen again. "Whatever happens, I will have an input. It's as simple as that. "If I can't do certain things, I will be speaking to staff and players at the club and working at the training ground during the week. "I'll still have a major say to the players too. We'll work it that way."
