Joe Kinnear and Graham Carr have met to discuss Newcastle United's assault on the transfer market in the hope of reaching an agreement on a short-list of targets to strengthen Alan Pardew's squad.
Kinnear's appointment as director of football cast doubt over Carr's future, but the Northampton-based chief scout vowed to carry on in his role as did Pardew.
In the wake of Kinnear's arrival, it emerged the Magpies boss has clashed with Carr over transfer targets with the pair having different views on the type of player Newcastle should be signing.
Kinnear is keen to bring in more Premier League experience to compliment the wealth of French imports he has acquired since taking over in December 2010.
On the other hand, Carr is of the opinion that the Tynesiders should continue with their current transfer policy of bringing in overseas players on the cheap with the potential to sell on for considerably bigger fees.
Carr has already been over ruled by Newcastle's new director of football, who pulled the plug on Brazilian defender Douglas' free transfer to St James' Park.
It was a strange move by Kinnear, because he admitted later he had not seen Douglas play, yet Carr and Pardew have had him watched for the last 18 months!
