Kean Problems Mount Ahead Of Massive Toon Test!

Blackburn manager Steve Kean's problems continue to mount.

Some suggest the fixture against Newcastle could be his last, and Steve Kean's problems continue to mount as reduced squad numbers leave him with limited options for Wednesday's Carling Cup tie.

Midfielder Steven Nzonzi will miss the fourth-round clash through suspension after picking up a booking against Tottenham on Sunday to add to the long list of unavailable players.

Jordan Slew remains cup-tied having played in the competition already with former club Sheffield United and experienced heads such as Michael Salgado and David Dunn are sidelined through injury.

Steve Kean: "We are still down on bodies, and with Nzonzi suspended and Slew cup-tied we are lighter than we were on Sunday.

"We've a little bit of choice, but our programme is tighter than Newcastle's as we played Sunday, they played Saturday.

"After this we play Saturday and they don't play until Monday night, so we've been a lot lighter than them so far in terms of pre-match preparation.

"We'll see how everyone is in training tomorrow.

"We'll do some testing and just make sure everybody's levels are back up so they are not putting themselves at risk."
