Joey - What Were You Thinking About?
The Football Association will take a look at video footage of Joey Barton punching Blackburn midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen in Newcastle's 2-1 defeat at St James' Park last night. Barton lashed out at Pedersen with a blow to his chest after the Norway international seemed to brush the Toon player as he ran past. Referee Michael Jones did not punish Barton after the incident, nor was the player booked at any time during the game, and the FA can only 'officially' act when the referee files his report. Or that is what they normally say in these circimstances. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce: "I'm not really going to talk about that because I don't want to detract from our victory. "Whoever will see it will see it and do whatever needs to be done." Pedersen: "You saw the pictures. I don't want to speak much about it now."
