Joey Barton contract talks back on track as midfielder plans Newcastle extension

Joey Barton has invited Newcastle to resume talks over his future after Alan Pardew declared his intent to keep the midfielder at St James' Park.[LNB]Barton, 28, has been outstanding this season yet is attracting interest from Aston Villa, West Ham, Everton and Hamburg as he has just one year remaining on his contract. He has yet to agree terms on a new deal, despite offering to take a huge pay cut, as he wants a three year extension instead of the two on offer.[LNB] Hands up who wants to to stay: Newcastle United's Joey Barton is set to open talks with the club[LNB]Manager Pardew said: 'It's important to keep your best players.
