Italian job for Gutierrez as flop Newcastle winger heads for Roma

Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez looks set to join Italian giants Roma. Gutierrez is leaving Tyneside as he fears a season in the Championship with the relegated Magpies will hamper his chances of making the Argentina squad for next year's World Cup. Newcastle hope to recoup most of the £5.2million they paid Real Mallorca last summer but, according to the Daily Mirror, Roma want to 'rent' Gutierrez for a season before decising whether to make the deal permanent or send him  back to St James' Park. Gutierrez, 27, missed the club's pre-season trip to Ireland yesterday (Tuesday) as he was given extra time off but but it is understood he wants his future sorted out before he returns next weekend.
