Alan Pardew has made a list of seven potential signings in the defensive area and Johan Djourou is at the very top of this wish list.
The Gunners are believed to only be commanding a small fee for the player capped 33 times for Switzerland.
Italian side Napoli have also checked him out.
He joined Arsenal back in 2004 making 156 appearances.
