Is There More To Taylor's Injury Than Meets The Eye?

06 September 2010 18:48
Steven Taylor has hardly played a match since Andy Carroll broke his jaw in that infamous training ground incident. And Chris Hughton says we won't see him for another five weeks. During that time his agent has tried to organize him a move away from St James' Park; he has refused to sign the contract offered to him; and he has been put on the transfer list (with no interest from anyone). We are still waiting to see if Taylor and Carroll can play together in the Premiership without a reconstruction of the Bowyer/Dyer battle we saw against Aston Villa some years ago. Just when Taylor seems ready for a return, we read something has happened to put him back. Chris Hughton: "As far as Steven is concerned, we are still looking at about five weeks or so [until he's back]. "We'll continue to assess his situation like we would with any injury. "He still has a part to play for Newcastle."
