Is Marveaux's Heart Still In France?

29 November 2013 12:56
Sylvain Marveaux has not played for more than two months, and for some time now it has been rumoured ...

... he wants a loan move back to France to see out his contract.

He is fully fit after recovering from a recent injury but hasn’t even made the bench in recent weeks.

The Frenchman made a very slow start to his Newcastle career, signing in June 2011 from Rennes and only making four starts the entire 2011/12 season.

It was rumoured then he was missing France, and his performances showed it!

His absence from Pardew’s matchday squads this season has left fans wondering whether he has a future at Newcastle.

Alan Pardew: “He’s in the squad, but he’s not getting on the bench at the minute.

“I’m sure between now and the end of February he’ll be used. He’s training well.

“I have absolutely no problems with him.

“It’s difficult because we have great players who cannot get into the team, and as a manager I can only have 11.

“It hurts me sometimes when I can’t play players.

“Sammy Ameobi, actually, is a player who’s looked terrific, but I can’t give him a game at the minute.

“All these players will get games. In the next seven and a half weeks we’ve got 14 games.

“It’s the big, tough part of the season. Your squad needs to kick in. I think we’re much stronger than we were last year depth-wise.

“Mike Williamson is an example of someone who wasn’t anywhere near the first team.

“He found an opportunity, and took it.

“He will play – 100 per cent.”
