Is It Time For Shola To Be Appreciated?

Shola Ameobi is now 30, and for the last ten years the Toon managers (each and every one) have tried to replace him. But he's still here and Alan Pardew says "the city should be proud of him". But ...

... at the same time, Pardew will be looking for a new striker in the January transfer window.

Alan Pardew: "I was really happy for Shola to score that goal. He's a first-class citizen for this city, and hopefully he will get a few more."We have got his brother [Sammy] here, of course, who we have high hopes for."He's getting bigger than Shola now, so Shola's having to calm down a bit, otherwise his brother is going to clip him around the ear soon."They are great lads - a great family, actually - and the city should be proud of them."
