Is Enrique Seriously In The Frame In Spain?

Jose Enrique sat out Spain's World Cup victory but Chris Hughton says he should use it as the ultimate incentive to fulfil his international ambitions. When Enrique left Villarreal for Newcastle – Joan Capdevila was the left-back who replaced him - and he starred for Spain in South Africa. Hughton: “Seeing Spain win the World Cup is certainly something that any player in that country would want to aspire to. “Jose had a very good season with us last season. “And he’ll be looking for more of the same. “That’s the same with all of our players. “But for Jose, he knows that Spain are the best team in the world. “He will look at the players in his position and will want to get to that level. I think that’s a normal thing for any top player. “The current set of Spanish players have certainly set the bar after winning the World Cup and, of course, the European Championships before that. “They’ve dominated in the last few years. “But it’s certainly an exciting challenge because there are plenty of very good players who didn’t go to the World Cup.”
