Injury-Prone Bullard Too Much Of A Risk For Toon

Reports this week have linked Jimmy Bullard with a move to Newcastle to replace Nicky Butt ... who has called time on his Toon career. But we hear rumours that Chris Hughton fears Bullard is too much of a risk, following another injury-prone season at Hull City. Joey Barton is on the mend after recovering from injury and he is seen as the player to run the engine room next term. Hull are forced to sell their popular midfielder because they did not insert a relegation clause in his lucrative, long-term contract, and they have no choice but to get him off the wage bill. He is on a £50,000-a-week contract ... and Mike Ashley has already set a wage cap of £35,000. Although the Toon owner has told Hughton he is willing to bend those rules should he attract the right sort of player.
