Important Six Weeks In The Life Of One Toon Striker

He wants to prove he is good enough for the Premier League, but ...

... Newcastle's Haris Vuckic has a period to show he can be a star in League One!

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans says that loan signing Haris Vuckic will show something special when he gets his chance over the next half-a-dozen games.

The Millers boss said Vuckic wasn’t brought in as cover for Alex Revell but because he is a bit different.

Vuckic, a 21-year-old capped once by Slovenia, got the final 10 minutes of Saturday’s excellent display against Gillingham but is set to figure more often during his loan spell from Newcastle United.

Steve Evans: “I didn’t want to sign a like-for-like replacement for ‘Revs’ and then have him sitting next to me on the bench every week.

“We wanted someone who’s a little bit different, someone who can drop in and link the play and, especially at home, someone who can unlock the door and he can certainly do that.

“Haris is a special player and he’ll show that over the next five or six games.

“He and James Tavernier came down from Newcastle United and they were excellent.

“You can get some from Premier League clubs and they’re big time Charlies, well, these two were not.

"Tavernier had an outstanding debut which he marked with a goal.

“He’s really good, very technical and he has an excellent all-round game.

“He brings other people into the game and he is someone who scores goals too, I think he will do well."
