Ideal Preparation For Buddies ... But What About Toon?

St Mirren claim they have given themselves the ideal preparation for the start of the new SPL season after drawing 2-2 with Newcastle United side in a closed doors game. But after the Toon fell 2-0 behind, I'm sure Chris Hughton wondered why the hell he'd bothered. The Buddies led by two goals before being pegged back late on. Alan Smith, Xisco and Steven Taylor all got run-outs for Chris Hughton’s side. Paul McQuade and Gareth Wardlaw, both recruited by manager Danny Lennon from his former club Cowdenbeath over the summer, were the scorers for the Paisley club as they took a 2-0 lead. Newcastle rallied however, Nile Ranger finding two goals in the last 15 minutes. No disrespect to Cowdenbeath, but bloody hell, it is a bit worrying when two part-time players put us under the cosh ... when our next game is at Old Trafford!
