'I Had Closest View - Pardew Was Wrong!'

Senegal striker Papiss Cisse saw a first-half shot hacked off the line by West Ham's Winston Reid at the weekend ... and Alan Pardew said it was a goal.

Assistant referee Matthew Wilkes was unmoved by Newcastle appeals that a goal should have been awarded.

Pardew felt his side had been robbed of a goal but Reid, who signed a new contract at Upton Park earlier in the week, was adamant he had cleared in time.

Winston Reid: "No, it was not in.

"I am dead honest and I know it wasn't in. My foot was actually on the line and I got the ball away in time, which was good.

"As a defender you are trying to save goals and, fortunately enough, we came off at the end having not conceded any."
