Hull To Pip Newcastle To Bent Signing?

Newcastle United are considering making a move for Aston Villa's out of favour striker Darren Bent, but Hull City could have the edge because they are willing to pay the £6m transfer fee.

United are put off by his £6million pound valuation, and it could get messy because the player would rather return to the North-East than go to Humberside, BUT Villa will want the full fee.The England international was frozen out at Villa Park last season, making just eight Premier League starts for Paul Lambert’s side. The former Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town man, said himself he is keen to go to St James' Park. However, the financial terms of the deal may need to be lowered for the deal to go ahead, with the player’s current deal of £70,000 per week out of the Magpies strict wage structure, and the price tag considered too steep for a 29 year old.The club have previously detailed their policy of only buying players who can later be sold on at a profit, though it appears that manager Alan Pardew is keen to make an exception this time around.
