Hughton - We need quick wins

ewcastle caretaker manager Chris Hughton believes that a short run of form can propel them to safety.[LNB] The Magpies currently occupy 13th place in the Premier League, only four points above the relegation zone but could be considered fortunate not be in deeper trouble after a poor string of recent results.[LNB]Hughton knows that his side cannot afford to put their fate in the hands of other teams.[LNB]"We have to look after ourselves and that means putting runs together which can change the complexion of things very quickly," he said.[LNB]"We're more than capable of doing that and Everton, at home, is a chance to add to our tally.[LNB]"We can't rely on other teams. We've been lucky in that when we only took one point from 12 we only dropped one place.[LNB]"And then a draw against West Ham even took us up a few places. But that won't good fortune won't last and, as we did at West Brom, we have to get the points which will take us to safety."[LNB]StabilityThe former Republic of Ireland international will have the benefit of being assisted by first-team coach Colin Calderwood.[LNB]He says Calderwood's management experience will be vital in the upcoming games.[LNB]"It's good to have Colin alongside me," Hughton added.[LNB]"The timing of him coming here was good as he came in just a couple of weeks before Joe had problems.[LNB]"He is a very experienced coach and we can use all of his experience in the next couple of games. He has managed at a good level and it has been important to have him around.[LNB]"We wanted some stability and we didn't want to change things too much. Colin being here has allowed us to do that."[LNB]
