Hughton wants crowds to keep coming

Caretaker boss Chris Hughton urged Newcastle to keep the crowds flocking to St James' Park after more than 43,000 turned up to see the latest instalment of their promotion drive. Shola Ameobi once again proved the hero as the Magpies edged past Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 to go level on points with leaders Cardiff during another crucial week for the club. Owner Mike Ashley is expected to make a decision on the way forward by the end of this week, with former Tottenham and Rangers player Graham Roberts insisting the Fans 410 consortium he heads is planning takeover talks on Thursday. But after seeing his side extend their unbeaten start to the season in front of 43,904 spectators, Hughton was happy to concentrate on events on the pitch. He said: "It's a wonderful crowd and one we most definitely don't want to take for granted. What we do know is we have got to give them something to turn up in their thousands for."
