Hughton: 'This Has Been A Team Effort'

Chris Hughton took the award ... but (like Kevin Nolan) insisted all honours must be shared. He won the League Managers Association Championship manager of the year award but dedicated it to everybody at Newcastle United. The United boss picked up the award in London, and joined Fulham boss Roy Hodgson (who won the overall award), Harry Redknapp (Premiership), Norwich boss Paul Lambert (League One), and Keith Hill of Rochdale (League Two). Chris Hughton: “It was great honour for me. “And even when I arrived I didn’t know I had won it. “The LMA dinner is a huge occasion with some of the biggest figures in football attending it. “So to be there full stop is fantastic. “But to get the award made it extra special. “It’s always a team effort and the feeling this season has been whenever we have picked up accolades that the team have helped earn them. “When Kevin Nolan picked up his player of the season award, he said the same. “The players will also tell you that it is about the backroom staff and the support staff behind the scenes, everybody at the club plays a big part for us.”
