Hughton remains grounded

Caretaker Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is not even thinking about promotion - because the end of the season is just too far away. The former Tottenham and Republic of Ireland defender will send his side into battle with QPR at St James' Park on Wednesday night with the Magpies sitting proudly at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship table after Saturday's 4-0 demolition of Ipswich. However, with 37 league games still to play, securing an instant return to the Barclays Premier League remains nothing more than his burning ambition. Hughton said: "There's a belief we can win football matches. Any thoughts of getting out of this division, it seems so far away. "When you mention the amount of games we still have to play, it's such an awful long way away. "There is a great belief at the moment that we can win football matches, and that comes with winning games and confidence and at the moment, they are a confident group of lads."
