Hughton pleased with Taylor

Chris Hughton has praised Ryan Taylor for his response after being left out against Hull City. Taylor made a bad mistake when Dimitar Berbatov scored for Manchester United against Newcastle earlier this month but it was still something of a surprise when he was overlooked for the clash at the KC Stadium. Hughton has nevertheless been delighted with the midfielder's attitude, while he has also paid tribute to the rest of the squad for staying upbeat after the 1-1 draw with the Tigers. "Ryan will be very much in consideration again," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle. "He is part of a squad that is fighting for places. "Unfortunately for him, he lost out at Hull, but Ryan is very much in our thoughts. "I only have to look at his contribution since he came here to see how delighted we should be. "His response has been very good. After the result at the weekend I couldn't fault anybody in training this week. "It has been very good and very bright. It has been the right response." Hughton was also pleased to see defender Steven Taylor get his name on the scoresheet against Hull to secure a vital point for the Magpies. He said: "You want to get as many goals as you can from as many positions as you can, whether that be contributions from midfield or from defenders at set plays. "Steven Taylor's was one were he ended up making a run and staying up the park. "To our delight, he has scored a great goal and what could turn out to be a valuable one for us."
