Hughton keen on Kamara

Chris Hughton has admitted he is interested in signing Diomansy Kamara on-loan from Fulham in a bid to provide cover for the injured Shola Ameobi. Newcastle have been rocked with the news in-form striker Ameobi will be sidelined until December with a stress fracture of the foot. Ameobi's absence has left Newcastle with only one fit striker as rookie Nile Ranger has been charged with the task of leading Hughton's attack, although Andy Carroll is nearing full fitness and could figure in Wednesday night's game at Blackpool. Kamara, 28, is out of favour at Craven Cottage and Hughton concedes the Senegalese front man has come into his thinking. "Kamara is one of numerous names we've thought about," said Hughton. "He scored a lot of goals for West Brom in this division and is a very good player." Hughton had hoped Ameobi's injury would not prove to be serious and admitted: "He has been very unlucky. "Shola is looking like months rather than weeks before he is ready. "It's a massive blow. You get players whose seasons are interrupted by injury and this has been the case with Shola."
