Hughes hails Shearer timing

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes believes Alan Shearer has timed his arrival as Newcastle's new boss to perfection.[LNB] Shearer has been appointed at St James' Park for the final eight games of the season and has been tasked with helping the Magpies beat the drop.[LNB]With Joe Kinnear still recovering from major heart surgery, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has acted to bring in the Toon Army legend, who is the club's all-time leading goalscorer.[LNB]The North East club are currently in the Premier League drop zone, two points away from safety, and with a testing run-in to the season awaiting.[LNB]But Hughes feels the former England international has nothing to lose as he will not shoulder the blame should he fail, but will be lauded as a hero if he succeeds.[LNB]SituationHughes told Sky Sports News: "Looking from the outside it looks like Newcastle wanted a positive news story and something that would get everybody back on track and back onside.[LNB]"Bringing Alan Shearer back to Newcastle will obviously address that and there's going to be huge interest in all their games from now until the end of the season.[LNB]"It's a good situation from Alan's point of view because with eight games to go they are in a difficult situation and it's not really of Alan's doing and if he fails then no-one is going to criticise him too readily.[LNB]"Newcastle are a good team with good players and can win games in the Premier League and if they do survive this year then he will be deemed to have done a fantastic job.[LNB]"I think it's a good decision from Alan to come in at this point."[LNB]
