How Much Did Pardew's Words Sting Coloccini?

Argentine club San Lorenzo are keen to lure Magpies captain Fabricio Coloccini back to his homeland.

And there is still an underlying current between the defender and Alan Pardew, after the Toon boss went public and said 'Colo' was "not the same player he was last year."

Speculation over the defender’s future cannot come at a worse time for Pardew and Newcastle fans, who has already bid farewell to Demba Ba during the transfer window after the striker joined Chelsea for £7.5million.

Our 'St James' Park Insider' claims Coloccini took the stinging criticism badly because he doesn't believe he has been the major problem in defence.

San Lorenzo boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has confirmed he wants to sign the 30-year-old Coloccini, who returns to the Newcastle team for this weekend’s match at Norwich.

Juan Antonio Pizzi: "No offence to any other player but Coloccini represents something more to San Lorenzo. It would be best to make a decision soon, not to delay more.

"If we are given any hope of signing him, we are capable of waiting.

"Even if they give us a little bit of hope we will wait for him."
