Has Coloccini Taken A Swipe At Kinnear?

26 June 2013 10:04
Fabricio Coloccini took a side-ways swipe at new "boss" Joe Kinnear by saying he only committed his future to Newcastle United after manager Alan Pardew's intervention.

But, is this a new story or old quotes from Colo re-hashed?

Kinnear is checking out Alan Pardew’s squad (on Mike Ashley's instructions) to see who stays and who goes.

The Argentine was expected to quit the club this summer to return to his homeland, but he says he will commit himself to Newcastle for another year - unless Kinnear has a different view.

The defender had initially wanted to move back to Argentina in the summer, but Newcastle held firm and told him he had to see out the rest of the season and help them avoid relegation.

Coloccini and Pardew have always had a good relationship ever since the centre-half was handed the armband by his manager after Kevin Nolan’s departure to West Ham two years ago.

Coloccini said: “Alan has always been a great support to me. Whenever I have needed some advice he has always been around to help me.

“I’m not going to move to San Lorenzo now because Newcastle don’t want me to go. I have to respect that decision."
