Has Ashley Learned From The Mackems?

Newcastle United are set to welcome ...

... Kings of Leon to St James’ Park on Saturday, May 31, next year.

Pop concerts have been held at the Stadium Of Shite in recent years, after Newcastle started the trend with Queen, Bob Dylan, etc in the 1980s.

Mike Ashley didn't take to the idea, even though it was suggested Coldplay and Take That should play on Tyneside rather than Wearside.

But Sunderland's success, and obviously the announcement of their PROFITS, seems to have lit a light in Ashley's brain.

The multi Grammy and Brit award-winning Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon released their sixth album Mechanical Bull in September, scoring their fourth number one album in the UK.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Thursday, December 19, with general admission tickets priced at £55.

Newcastle United members and season ticket holders will be able to buy tickets from 9am on Wednesday, December 18.

Newcastle United finance director, John Irving, said: “We are delighted to bring such a big act as Kings of Leon to St. James’ Park for the first of what we hope will be a very long history of successful shows in the North-East.

“The Kings of Leon are renowned across the world and playing host to one of their UK shows is a real coup for Newcastle as both a club and city.”

Tickets can be bought online at http://www.seetickets.com/go/nufc.

Tickets will not be available through the Newcastle United Box Office.
