Harper happy despite late equaliser

Newcastle keeper Steve Harper is refusing to dwell on what might have been after conceding two last-gasp equalisers in a week. Six days after seeing Asamoah Gyan rescue a derby point for Sunderland with an injury-time fluke, the 35-year-old was picking the ball out of his net at the death once again as high-flying Tottenham snatched a point at St James' Park. The Magpies were leading 1-0 - and had passed up a series of opportunities to increase their lead - when Aaron Lennon cut inside to blast home a 91st-minute equaliser which denied the home side victory. It was hard to take for Harper and his team-mates, but the keeper was at least able to reflect upon Barclays Premier League victories over Wigan and West Ham and draws against Sunderland and Spurs in a positive start to 2011. He said: "Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but in 2011, four games unbeaten, eight points - a lot of people would have settled for that. It's all right thinking what might have been, but you can do that and you can bash your head against the wall with football. "But eight points and unbeaten in 2011, hopefully we can continue that for a long time."
