Steve Harper has hailed the impact caretaker boss Chris Hughton and his backroom team have had on Newcastle's start to the season. Hughton has been in caretaker charge of the side since the summer with the club still up for sale and without a permanent manager being installed. Under the stewarship of Hughton, Colin Calderwood and Paul Barron Newcastle have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the campaign and currently sit top of the Championship table. Long-serving keeper Harper believes Hughton and the coaching staff deserve all the credit for the job they done in difficult circumstances. He said: "Chris, Colin and Paul Barron have all stepped up and done a fantastic job. "They've got the respect of everyone in that dressing room and that shows on the pitch. "Everyone has got each other's backs and we're in this together."
