Harper Can Handle The Taunts
Syeve Harper says he gets stick for being the oldest at the club ... but he still sees a future at Newcastle ... despite being linked with a move to Celtic. Steve Harper: “I played in late 1991 for the youth team. “I’d like to continue for as long as possible. I knew this was my 18th pre-season as a professional. “The lads were pulling my leg about that calling me the old man – I’m five years older than everybody else now Nicky Butt’s left. Peter Lovenkrands is next now! “It’s a privilege to be at this club for 20 minutes, never mind the best part of 20 years. “This is a great football club, and hopefully we can establish it back in the Premier League. “If you spend 18 or 19 years at any football club you’re going to experience highs and lows. Over the years they’ve been well documented at this football club, and hopefully now we’re steadily on the rise.”
