Harper back for Magpies

Newcastle caretaker manager Chris Hughton has confirmed goalkeeper Steve Harper will return for the Championship encounter against Reading at St James` Park on Saturday. The 34-year-old was forced off at half-time and taken to hospital for tests on a head injury after clashing with team-mate Shola Ameobi in the build-up to West Brom`s opening goal. Dutchman Tim Krul replaced Harper for the second half and produced several superb saves as the Magpies secured a 1-1 draw thanks to Damien Duff`s equaliser. Hughton told nufcTV: "I can tell you Steve Harper will start against Reading. Steve is very much our number one goalkeeper. "But we are very fortunate to have two excellent young keepers in Tim Krul and Fraser Forster behind him. "Tim had an excellent second half against West Brom but of course we would`ve preferred it if he wasn`t so busy."
