He seems to have been around for decades . but former Toon winger James Milner is one of four nominees for the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year award. PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor cites Milner as proof England can grow its own talent. Milner has amassed a record 46 England Under-21 caps, and has made it into the full team. Gordon Taylor: "Maybe you wonder about the opportunities for some youngsters to come through and make an impression. "But James Milner set a good example. "He has shown his determination to eventually get to the top. "He was a young star at Leeds and maybe at Newcastle things didn't always go smoothly, but he has stuck in there, shown his adaptability and versatility and made it to the top."
