Gutierrez praises Hughton effect

Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez has hailed boss Chris Hughton's tenure as critical to the club's current stability. Hughton has now been in charge for 16 months following a wretched 2008-09 campaign when United had four managers during the course of the relegation season, including the 51-year-old for a three-week caretaker spell. But with Hughton at the helm on a full-time basis, Gutierrez feels the difference is marked. "Chris Hughton has been in charge for a long time now and we know what he wants," Gutierrez told the Newcastle Journal. "That is good. We are happy to see Chris staying here because he believes in us and we believe in him. "For us it is very important to have Chris as our manager. The difficulty of the relegation season was we had a lot of managers and a lot of injured players. "Now we have time to do things right. I think we are doing that but we have to do it better when we have the opportunity."
